Edna Hennessee OK Women's Hall of Fame Inductee

Edna Hennessee Medicine Park backer, mother of Vice Mayor Odus Hennessee grandmother of Jennifer Ellis President of CSL inc, is among seven 2009 inductees to the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame.

just in from NewsOK

Hennessee graduated from Union Valley High School in 1936 as valedictorian and went on to help grow Cosmetic Specialty Labs, a family-owned and operated company serving more than 10,000 customers in all 50 states and 23 foreign countries.

Although she is widely known for her spirit and generosity to Oklahoma and indeed the world we in the Park are forever grateful to Edna. She believed in the Park and purchased land here when many no longer believed. Developing Big Rock Estates along with her son Odus Hennessee and with the help of Charley Wright and others she began with her vision of the Chapel on the top of the Big Rock. A gift given to the people of Big Rock and the town so they could gather for special celebrations and occasions. The Historic Sanders House is another owned by Edna but given to the town of Medicine Park for their use. She and her family continue to support the activities in the Park often without acknowledgment.

So let's hear it for one of our own.... Edna Hennessee!
