New Businesses Opening in Medicine Park

post and photos Muriel Fahrion

Some think of it as progress I think of it as returning to what Medicine Park was meant to be, a small but unique Oklahoma Tourist Town destination. Continuing the revitalization of the little shops are two new editions. Situated right next to Town Hall, Medicine Park Grease Monkeys (opened this Spring) is fun little shop with array of classic car and old timey OK gift memorabilia. And directly across from Bath Lake in a building that was originally the Lawton Railway station/ Medicine Park Post Office is the Bait Shop, opened just a week ago. A perfect located business for the fisherman, men, woman and kids. They carry bait, rent and sell fishing poles ($3 can buy a kid a bamboo pole) and will carry Medicine Park souvenirs. The owners are very friendly and offer excellent prices.
Stop by and say hi and enjoy browsing and chatting. Tell them the Medicine Park Post sent you!

Thr Rev. John D. Morrow Obituary

The Rev. John D. Morrow of Lawton was born in Medicine Park in 1929. His son Kenneth Morrow is owner of the Bait Shop in Medicine Park.
Our sympathy goes out to Kenneth and his family.

Help Fill the Truck for Tornado Relief by Saturday

Your Help is Requested!!!

Did you know that Oklahoma is number one in per capita giving? If are like me it comes as no surprise we of Medicine Park, Neighboring Communities and Friends of Medicine Park have an opportunity to give to a most important cause. A citizen of Medicine Park and an emergency responder Leigh Gurr is originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (Her family survived the tornado and are okay). Lee will be driving a truckload of essentials to Tuscaloosa. She is asking that our giving population donate a little to the effort. She is leaving this Saturday. You can bring your items down to the Park Tavern where the truck will be parked. Can’t deliver things here? Ask one of your friends to pick things up for you or give Leigh a call.

From Leigh....Still collecting Gatorade, bar soap, shampoo, detergent, snacks, everything else to take to Tuscaloosa. Drop things at the Tavern, or send me a message and I'll come pick up!
